Bio:
I am a second year student at the university of Bradford. I study sports rehabilitation and I have always been interested in trying different sports. I joined many teams when I first came to university, but the one I enjoyed the most was the judo team. As our coach always says, it was because I did throw myself into something different.

I know that it sounds a bit painful, but it really isn't . It is very entertaining and the whole mood at the sessions is really friendly and I've made some incredible friendships.

Because I enjoy judo and the people I train, socialize and compete with as part of Team Bradford I decided to stand and was elected as President of the club for the current year.  So far I'm finding the job amazing as well as excitingly challenging at the same time.

Judo Achievements:
  • In my first year at university I achieved my 6th Kyu, but it gave me such a level of achievement I knew Judo was for me.

Bio:
I did judo when I was quite young at around 9 years old for a year with my brother and enjoyed it. Once I came to university and saw the judo club, I decided to join / start once more and I have not looked back since then!

I'm currently a year two Physiotherapy student studying at the university. Aside from judo I also play rugby (Union!) and enjoy playing guitar.
Bio:
I started judo when I was 8 years old at Dartford judo club where I trained for two and a half years. Since coming to the Bradford university I discovered this club and decided to start again.

When it comes to the sport I make a point to try and practice harder than anyone else and to help people improve whenever possible. This has led me to hopefully pursue level 1 coaching qualifications over the summer for 2016.
Judo Achievements:
  • 5th Kyu (Yellow belt)
  • Studying hard for my Orange belt (4th Kyu)
  • Goole Christmas Comp Bronze medalist -90Kg

  • Came back to Judo at University
  • Silver medal at Goole Yorkshire championships
  • 5th Place at British University Kyu grade Championships

Bio:
I was introduced to Judo in secondary school by members of the Wolverhampton Youth Judo Centre where I was taught some break falls and a few hold downs. I came back to Judo when I was reintroduced to it by my brother, a martial art fanatic and participator, at the age of 18.

When I initially took up martial arts, I did so as a form of self-defence, now I do it for the fun of it! The challenges I had as a newbie to Judo was breaking the contact barrier and the physical demand of the sport but the only way to overcome this was to persist with training. Learning something for the first time is meant to be challenging and uncomfortable, it is no different for Judo, but you feel great for coming out of your comfort zone and later seeing improvements in your skill base!

Sports in general is a popular pastime for me, from hockey, to horse riding, to the gym, not a day passes by without having some form of physical activity. Other passions include playing violin, broadening my knowledge on history, and the advancement of healthcare.

By the way did I say I was studying Clinical Sciences as a 1st Year student at University of Bradford.

Judo Achievements:
  • 4th Kyu Orange belt.
  • BUCS bronze Medallist in -63 kyu grade in 2014.
  • Goole Senior open Bronze in combined 63kg to 78kg in 2014.

Bio:
The first time I did judo was probably around fifth grade, a friend had recently started doing it, so I decided to try it as well. After few weeks I really got into it and continued for about 6 years on and off then I had to stop for two years. And once I came to university I found this friendly university club.

I am studying electrical engineering. I love travelling and listening to music in my free time besides doing judo.
Bio:
I enrolled at the University of Bradford in 2013 to study International Business Management (IBM).

Aside from academia I’ve always been interested in the martial arts and fitness. I came across Judo at the University fresher's fayre and have loved it ever since my very fest training session. Being a keen student of technique and the theory of Judo one of my favourite quotes is from Bruce Lee, it reads “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times”. BTW: we don't kick in judo but the principle is the same.
Judo Achievements:
  • 3rd Kyu Green belt.
  • Looking to compete for Team Bradford as much as possible this year.

Judo Achievements:
  • Started Judo last year.
  • 6th Kyu Red Belt
  • (promoted to 5th Kyu, Yellow Belt).

Hi! I'm a year two student physiotherapist at University of Bradford. I started doing Judo in Hong Kong when I was 14 years old.

In 2013, I joined this Judo club. It's my pleasure to be the social secretary of the club for this year.
  Bio:
I'm a final year television production student at the University of Bradford.  The first time I did judo was probably when I was about 12 years old. My friend and I wanted to try out a sport we had never done before so we went to our local sports centre and said we wanted to join the judo club. I kept at it for about 2 years until the club unfortunately closed down. I found out about the university's judo club near the end of my second year and was determined to join once the new year started! I've always been interested in sports and martial arts. I've been involved in many sports teams over the years and I briefly did karate.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, playing video games, and playing the guitar (although, I'm not the rockstar I think I am).
Judo Achievements:
  • 2nd Kyu Blue belt.
  • Trains all over including in his home town of Hong Kong, check out news page to see Kenny training.
  Judo Achievements:
  • 4th Kyu Orange belt.
  • Previously trained in Berwick

    Bio:
I took up Judo at 7 years of age and gained my 1st Dan in Judo at 15 as as junior squad member for Italy, and transferred to the UK as a senior 1st Kyu. I am now competing for point for my Senior 1st Dan in the UK.

Academically I completed my first two years of my Medical Engineering degree at Bradford University with a first class average and I am now doing my final year's studying at Cardiff University. Despite my transfer I still consider myself as a Bradford University Judo Club member and my membership still represents that.

I am also very fast at running, I came sixth in 4 x 100m relay in Italy senior squad and very much enjoy sprinting, but not as much as Judo.
